New Theater

If Salt Lake City builds a new theater, what play or musical would you want to see open it?

Kathy Mueller: Isn’t The Book of Mormon musical the obvious answer here?

Susan Kruithof: Definitely something with nudity. I’m thinking Hair. Gliddy glup goopy, nibby nabby noopy la la la lo lo.

Cody Winget: The Book of Mormon musical, or Oklahoma!

Scott Renshaw: The Book of Mormon is too obvious a choice. It should most fittingly be Gypsy, because it’s all about love of theater leading to a bunch of bad decisions.

Bryan Bale: Let me tell you about this script I wrote ...

Becca Andrus: Equus or Jane Eyre would be amazing! Death of a Salesman would be another top choice.

Bryan Mannos: Scarface, the musical. That would be badass…

Margaux Lodge: I would say The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked or The Lion King.

Jerre Wroble: As much as I am salivating to see The Book of Mormon and Cirque du Soleil’s Love, I know they will make us wait. So bring it: West Side Story.

Rachel Piper: I’m sure that Phantom and Wicked will be at the top of most Utahns’ lists, so I’ll plug my personal dream: The Last Five Years.

Kolbie Stonehocker: Avenue Q. “The Internet Is for Porn” makes way more sense as our state song than “Utah, This Is the Place,” anyway.
