OK, here’s a tough one: You’re stuck on an island, and for whatever reason you get to choose one Salt Lake City bar to join you. Which do you choose? (p.s. strip clubs and liquor stores don’t count; that’s too easy.) I think I’d go with a gastropub, essentially a bar that serves high-end beer and food. That’s why Gracie’s (326 S. West Temple) would be a good choice. Besides a kick-ass food and drink menu, there’s a slew of pool tables and TVs, multiple bars, a massive outdoor patio and, my personal favorite, cornhole (beanbag toss). No doubt all of these things would keep you sane. Which is exactly why in the film Castaway, Tom Hanks would have been so psyched to find this place—way more than finding a volleyball.
