Speak up about blended nuclear waste in Utah

Up until Feb. 17, Utahns can comment on a decision by the Utah Division of Radiation Control to allow Energy Solutions to receive and dispose of up to 40,000 cubic-feet per year of new blended radioactive waste in Utah.---
The Utah Division of Radiation Control is expected to perform a study of the disposal site at Clive in Tooele County, to reaffirm that large volumes of blended waste can indeed safely be stored there. In the meantime, the proposal that is up for comment would still allow 40,000 cubic-feet of waste a year to be brought to the site from a blending facility in Tennessee.
Environmental advocates of HEAL Utah have blasted the regulators’ decision and are calling on citizens to bring the heat to the Governor’s Office about this dump-first, study-later approach.
