The footage was shot last Wednesday at Rockfish Studios in Ogden by David Connell, of newly incorporated dotConnell Productions, in preparation for the video for “Intentions.” The single will be released late Spring/ early Summer. The music on this behind the scenes look, however, is King Niko’s “French Accent.”
Connell is still working through various treatments for “Intentions” and will have the creative vision finalized after all the tracking has been done. “We want to show the very first conception of a track and show everything that goes into it,” he says. “What role [this footage] plays in the video, I”m not quite sure yet.”
On the new song, keyboardist Reid Laitinen says, “It’s a pretty uplifting song. It kinda builds to a bit of a crescendo at the end. It doesn’t start very slow to require a lot of building.” He adds before they had a name for the song during practice sessions, they called it ‘That Pretty One.’” The band played the soon to be released tune during their winning perform at the CWMA Final Showcase on February 18. Here’s our profile from that issue.
King Niko isn’t dipping into their $2,000 award from that showcase for this session though. Rockfish has offered to do this single for free in a symbiotic co-marketing deal. To read Rockfish co-owner Rachel Alvine’s studio blog, go here.
The band will open at Long Distance Operator's CD release show May 7 at The Canyon Inn. CW
