A Plan for Education Funding

It's the same old song and dance every legislative session between the funding education and everything else, this year being worse than any other with the economic meltdown.

Why don't we take a simple cue from our neighbor to the north, Idaho?  I'm not talking about a lottery, as Idaho is the home of the Utah Lottery.  I'm talking about schools selling advertising.  Right there at the bottom of every test paper in Jeb Harrison's history and economics class is an ad for MOLTO'S PIZZA  14" 1 TOPPING JUST  $5 in bright red!

The school's principal was a little reluctant but reality smacked him in the wallet and he said OK, and MOLTO'S paid for enough paper to last the entire school year.  The possibilities are endless.  Why don't we sell advertising on the sides of school buses?  What, kids don't see ads on UTA and TRAX?  Or every other commercial vehicle on the roads?  I don't think their little brains will be damaged in the slightest if they see ads on their buses any more than the ads they see all day and night everywhere else.  It's ether that, or get rid of the dependent deduction on tax forms that is nothing more than a subsidy from the state for having kids.
