When's the last time your flight was delayed "due to volcano"? Jake Fish and Brinton Jones of Salt Lake City's The Devil Whale spent several days in Alaska waiting out Mount Redoubt's eruption which exploded last Sunday. Now home safe and sound, the local rockers are ready to join friends Band of Annuals and Leslie & The Badgers (LA) at Urban Lounge for a night of country/Americana/roots-rock-fueled sounds.

If that's not your bag, first count your blessings that your weekend plans aren't hampered by nasty piles of ash then consider the following options: - Marinade and Maybelle's Music Box at Bar Deluxe - Dim Spook, Chaz Prymek and Palace of Buddies (pick up their new album) at the Woodshed - Jesus Rides A Riksha, Blonde Assassin, Melodramus at Liquid Joe's - Ska bands galore at Kilby Court - New Found Glory at In the Venue - The Voodoo Organist at Brewskis - the list goes on...

Tomorrow's best bets: - Angus and Julia Stone at Murray Theater - Damien Jurado and Laura Gibson at Velour (call ahead to make sure tickets aren't sold out the day of the show)
