Your Weekend at the Movies

Do I take pleasure in bashing a locally-made film? I do not. However, I take neither more nor less pleasure in presenting an honest assessment of a movie for which customers are being asked to pay the same price as any other movie at the multiplexes. Utah locations do nothing to make Reflections in the Mud any more entertaining, or plausible, or compelling. If it's any consolation, a movie with a ton of stars like the multi-plotted Crash wannabe Crossing Over proves to be just as silly. And Fast & Furious is plenty silly, too -- but at least cars go really fast every once in a while.

The only thing really worth your time this weekend is the charming nostalgic romance Adventureland. Here's to movies you can laugh with, and not just laugh at.
