Japanther - That's Right MF!

Through some inspired, WTF-inducing decision-making, punkers Japanther played within the beige fortress of Union Square's flagship Barnes & Noble as part of their Upstairs at the Square series which aims to "bring together authors with singer/songwriters" in some artistic circle-jerk that usually has uppities toasting their monocles.

The band, paired with New Weird author China Meiville, brought their usual shenanigans as they blazed through their melodic lo-fi and yelled profanities loud enough to cause nervous among the audience ("Fuck you, motherfuckers!... I always wanted to say that in Barnes and Noble" and a rant about Catholic priests "putting their dicks in little boys" were some of the tidbits from drummer/singer Ian Vanek).

Despite the punk rock posturing, Japanther proved to be witty and thoughtful during their interview, which fared better than Meiville's canned resonses. The band even went on to cowboy the interview, asking Meiville questions about his musical influences and Terminator Salvation.

Japanther plays in Utah (again) at the Woodshed, July 12th. Promote that shit, Woodshed!
