The Canyons School District in the Sandy area is looking for a property tax hike to get a little green to fund their 2009-2010 school year.
School district leaders and bean counters are holding a special Truth in Taxation meeting tomorrow night to talk about what the damage will be to the average taxpayer---(roughly an additional $46 for average homeowner in the district) and where those greenbacks will go (generating about $4 million for the district school fund).
If you’re looking to do a little homework on the issue, check out this informative article, here. For those who got a mind to call this tax hike in and do it for the kiddies or shout it down, either way you’ll want to show up tomorrow Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. at the district offices at 9150 S. 500 West.
The tax bump will be voted on by the school board immediately after the public hearing.
