You all missed an amazing show last night at Slowtrain. Alexis Gideon and Shelley Short each performed a brief set of killer music, starting with Gideon's mind-blowing guitar manipulation. He sneak-previewed part of his set for tonight's Urban Lounge gig--- which will feature his Video Musics' hip-hop opera/claymation/animation masterpiece in its entirety. He also pulled out a neat short-sleeve hat-trick cover of an obscure Talking Heads song that in his hands sounded a bit like U.S. Maple. Short employs fewer gadgets and effects pedals to deliver her unique folk songs but the effect is equally stunning. Her voice is gorgeous and haunting. Don't miss your chance again to see these musicians live before they blow up! They headline an evening with Ted Dancin' tonight. 241 S. 500 East, 9 p.m.

In the mood for metal? Hit up Club Vegas for another Bandwagon Live featuring locals Seventking, Three Reasonz, Kiss me Kill me, Hard Luck. Abstract Rude and Busdriver will also roll through Kilby Court to educate listeners on some experimental hip-hop. This catchy track wouldn't be out of place on a Why? album:

Also at Kilby tomorrow night, rising roots-rocker Ryan Bingham will break a few hearts with sounds straight out of the mean, dusty streets of West Texas. If you want to piss off concerned parents and the religious right, head to Great Saltair for Marilyn Manson who is currently touring in support of his latest release/seventh studio album, The High End of Low. For something more chill, check out DJ Dao's weekly party at Club Orange - electro-mash-ups and hip-hop, Back to School-style.

Check back here Monday for Labor Day concert news.
