Race Out and Rent

Fear not that your local Redbox won't have a copy of X-Men Bore-igins: Wolverine. Your time and money are more valuable than that. ---
A better new release opportunity comes in the form of Easy Virtue, director Stephan Elliott's loose adaptation of the Noel Coward play. Jessica Biel stars as the vibrant American who throws an upper-crust1930s British family into a tizzy by marrying their prodigal son (Ben Barnes). Yes, that's Jessica Biel in a movie that's actually pretty good, and not even in spite of her. It's frisky and occasionally raucous culture-clash comedy, sparked by Elliott's intriguing musical choices.
On the opposite end of the spectrum from a droll comedy of manners is the darkly comic horror movie Grace, which debuted at Sundance in January. Jordan Ladd plays a woman with a history of miscarriages who finally carries to term, only to have the baby arrive stillborn ... or is it? Writer/director Paul Solet has some wicked fun with the zombie-baby concept, and introduces some satirical pokes at traditional-vs.-alternative parenting debates that makes this perhaps the first "vegan horror" movie. And even if the pacing lags at times, it may all be worth it for one of the most hilariously gruesome final punch-lines you'll ever see.
