Hello
twenty-year beer enthusiasts. Busy week for the start of fall. First
off, let's take a look at the 337 Memorial Wall.
--- Next up on the list, hey look, its a party!
Made my way over on Wednesday night to
Squatters for their 20th Anniversary celebration, hosted
by Radio From Hell with beer a flowing and music by the Daniel Day
Trio. Celebrating two decades worth of starting their brew pub,
bringing out dozens of flavors, and being a force for locally made
beers here in Utah. As to why the radio group was a part of the
festivities... “They
said 'We're having an anniversary and you were the first people who
ever did radio ads for us.' It was Squatters idea to have us and we
threw in some ideas with them.”
said Bill Allred. “Its
a great party with a lot of people, nice entertainment and good beer,
everybody seems to be having a good time.”
The night was topped off with a toast from Allred, with rebuttal
from the owners who took much applause from just the mention of their
different beers. You can check out photos from the event over here.
Good party!
Touching on Thursday's posting, Fashion Stroll was
a major event last night. Drawing in one of the biggest crowds
Broadway has ever had, and probably the most the Stroll itself has
had to date. Several local designers from across the city and beyond
came in to show off their goods, Style Wars brought in some new looks
and turned a few heads. This one also brought out a lot of the local media, who hopefully did the event justice and didn't just pander it off as "a gathering." There's more to discuss, but instead I'd
rather just point you over to this gallery and show you what you
missed out on if you didn't go.
Another
stop this weekend was over to Poor Yorick Studios for their seasonal
open house. A number of new artists have taken up residence while
many favorites had newer displays. Including the one you see below of
Chris Buttars, as he is before he wakes up and drinks the blood of
the damned. Daytime was a little daunting an many of the spaces are
usually open on the nightly showing, but still had a lot of work to
admire from start to finish. As I write this they've closed up their
two-day event, so if you didn't go check it out... sucks to be you.
Catch them all again in the spring. Or enjoy the pictures I snapped
for now over here at this gallery.
Plans for tonight, make
your way over to The Salt Palace as the Salt City Derby Girls hold
their championship game! Last year's defending champions Leave It To
Cleavers pull up their aprons and skate head-on into the holy-rolling
nunnery that is The Sisters Of No Mercy, who make their first
championship appearance since the start of the league. The last time
these two played the Cleavers sliced the sisters down to size. Will
history repeat itself in form of Nunsense, or will divine
intervention give the Sisters revenge and their first championship
win? Make your way out tonight and find out!
As for the blog the next few weeks we'll have material from writer Jake
Black, DJ and musician Ebay Jamil, a look into the web series Raising
Kayn, along with a look at some poster art and looking at some fall
festival material. A lot of things up in the air entering October so
we'll see what happens.
