Phoning It In

The Trib recently reported a study showing the efficiency of telephone town hall meetings. The study, from the Congressional Management Foundation cheerily reported that participants in telephone town hall meetings approved more of their delegate, were more likely to vote for them and on issues discussed, member approval jumped as much as 20 percent.---

Matt Ben Jackson, Sleepover, Ben Shepard

This past Friday amd Saturday night Kilby Court held its own mini-festival of both established and up-and-coming local bands, showcasing some of the finest we have in Utah. But we all know this two night event as Kilby Fest!

Why You Should Watch Monday Night Football part 7

Well, I gotta be honest... maybe you shouldn't. It's the Philly Eagles vs the Washington Redskins.

Jay Brannan wants to be a housewife

Jay Brannan, that dreamy-eyed (and dreamy everything else) singer-songwriter from New York City, totally rocked Salt Lake City at Urban Lounge Sunday night. This was the definition of an "intimate evening with..." Much of the crowd was cuddle-puddled on the floor at Brannan's feet as he sang "I Want to be a Housewife," "Sodashop," "Goddamned," and several other favorites.

The Revenge of The Christmas Sweater

Every time I want to lay off Glenn Beck, he comes roaring back with a new pile of weepy bullshit that's sure to be eaten up by his minions. Halloween (that pagan "holiday") isn't even over, and now it's time once again for  ...

Sunset Rubdown Throw Down

I wish I could say I went to see Sunset Rubdown because I was this humongous fan of the band, that I’d gone about memorizing their wandering couple albums and had planned to plant my feet firmly at the head of the stage---, proudly singing along, closing my eyes and smiling as smugly as I could get away with. I wasn’t that guy on Saturday night.

Piling On BYU

Why not?

CLUSTER FOX News..."We report, you deride"

FOX News is not so much a news organization, but a network that uses news as a programming tool.  Emphasis on tool!--- I have been a news junkie most of my life and watch and listen in hopes of learning what is going on and who is doing what to whom.  Growing up in the days of Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley and the others of that era, I felt that what I was getting was the scoop on the days events.  There was a dignity to news back then with the New York Times, The Grey Lady, as the holy grail of print media and all these news organs were for the most part trusted sources of information.

F *** the Yankees

The Yankees won their 40th AL Pennant last night... That means they will be looking to win their 27th World Series against the Phillies.

Roller Derby: Junction City Expo Goes 123-103

Saturday, Oct. 24: While the planned Salt City Derby Girls’ expo bout at the Gallivan Center in SLC was rained out (skating on wet cement, never a good idea), Ogden’s Junction City Roller Dolls’ season-ender bout at the Davis Conference Center in Layton went off without a hitch--and the theme wasn’t Black vs. Blue! ---It was the Bone Bettys (skeletons) vs. the Charmed Ones (witches) in an obviously Halloween-themed game.
