I feel like Ralphy in Christmas Story.%uFFFD Obligated to write a theme in hopes of giving my 3 grade teacher an orgasm that will translate into me getting what I really want for Christmas.---

Here is the hard part.%uFFFD I can't think of a single thing that I'm thankful for and that causes me great mental grief because compared to what I see on the news every night I have more than most of the world.%uFFFD All I see is our service men and women dodging bullets and IED's to stay alive another day so they can help these people who live in mud huts%uFFFDthat keep killing Americans.%uFFFD It has been 8 years since we invaded Afghanistan. That lasted%uFFFDfor a few minutes before the idiots who started this, "Bring'm in dead or alive" Bush Administration decided that Iraq would make easier pickins even though Iraq had nothing to do with why we invaded Afghanistan in the first place.%uFFFD Now we are stuck in both places.%uFFFD It is costing us $1 million a year to keep a solder over there. For those of you who are numerically challenged like I am, that works out to be about a billion dollars a month or a minute or whatever.%uFFFD Yet we can't afford health care for our own citizens.%uFFFD Oh I forgot....that would not be supporting the troops.%uFFFD It might be keeping them alive when they return along with their parents and loved ones but all that doesn't fit on a bumper sticker very well.

For a while I was thankful that Obama won the election but I'm starting to loose confidence in his approach to several things. Then I realize that Bush/Cheney had fucked things up so badly both here and abroad that expecting Obama to fix such a monumental mess in a short amount of time is not reasonable. %uFFFDI guess I am thankful that Sarah Palin isn't anywhere near the White House.%uFFFD I sometimes wonder what would things be like if McCain had won and she was sashaying around the West Wing.%uFFFD I doubt that would have been as funny to watch as her book tour and goofy interviews with the various news people who need a boost in their ratings.%uFFFD Et tu Oprah?

I am thankful for family and the health of all my kids and grandkids.%uFFFD The same goes for all who read this rambling mess.%uFFFD

Be safe and warm and smile at someone.....it is a cheap gift but one that really hits the right spot.
