While
not all that rare, its a nice surprise to find an individual taking
the skills they use on a daily basis to earn a living and keep a roof
over their head, and using them to help out our local scene as best
they can. And its particularly awesome when its designed so
well.
It was one of those things we kept planning to do but were always putting off, like doing the laundry or reading Raymond Carver's biography. It isn't marriage by a long shot -- the ordinance's narrow scope had to be carefully delineated so as not to invoke the Legislature's wrath -- but when the city's domestic partner mutual commitment registry went into effect April 2008, Dave and I figured it was made for us.
Ben McAdams, on paper, looks good. The married father of three just chosen by Salt Lake County Democratic delegates over the weekend to complete Sen. Scott McCoy's term for Senate District 2 is an attorney and adviser for Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker.
Last night, TLC (formerly The Learning Channel; now The Little Channel) premiered The Little Chocolatiers, the pilot for a series coming in 2010. The reality series is all about Salt Lake City's Hatch Family Chocolates (390 4th Avenue), owned and operated by Steve Hatch and Katie Masterson.
