It's a big weekend for live music and parties, with Sundance, Slamdance, X-Dance and the Outdoor Retailers bringing in a flutter of activity. Here in Salt Lake City, locals and out-of-towners would be wise to stop by Beehive Tea Room (12 W. 300 South) for the downtown Sundance Music Cafe. Shows start at 7 p.m. nightly. The schedule is as follows---:

Jan. 22: Joey Cougar & the Starfish

Jan. 23: Ashley Norton

Jan. 24: Joey Cougar & the Starfish

Jan. 25: Sarah Sample

Jan. 26: Patrick Thomas

Jan. 27: Paul Jacobsen

Jan. 28: Red Rock Hot Club

Jan. 29: This Passing Moment

Jan. 30: The Precinct

Just a few blocks up, Brendan Benson headlines Urban Lounge. His flawless pop gems are buffed to a golden, ’70s-era sheen, with occasional orchestral strings fanning out like feathered hair. But Bay City Rollers he’s not. His ear-candy gems boast substance, too. Benson works hard to make it look easy. All you have to do is show up. 241 S. 500 East, 9 p.m. Tickets: 24Tix (with Birthquake and The Future of The Ghost)

If you can pony up the big bucks for Harry O's celeb-studded lineup, Saturday is a good time to do so. Art imitates life imitates art Jan 23 in Park City when Joan Jett and The Blackhearts hit the stage in conjunction with the Sundance premiere of The Runaways. Director Floria Sigismondi’s film offers an authentic fictionalized work documenting the legendary band’s ascent from Los Angeles’ 70s-rock scene in all its gritty glory. Jett still has it and is arguably worth the $65 ticket price alone but maybe, just maybe, featured stars Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat will show.

Oh, and let me know if you find Banksy.
