Pile 'em high with butter and whatever flavor of syrup you like--- (many folks are introduced to boysenberries with the tabletop sugary goo at IHOP). Tuesday February 23 is National Pancake Day. You won't get a paid holiday, but you will get one free short stack of buttermilk pancakes at any IHOP; there are several locations throughout the valley.
They are asking pancake patrons to consider making a donation to support local children's hospitals through Children's Miracle Network, or other local charities. Ok, so nothing is every totally free, but now at least you can fill your belly for a good cause (gluttony is not a cause, btw, children's health is).
