Hello
proud rainbow flag waving enthusiasts. We'll delve into Pride weekend
in a second, but first, let's check out the latest addition to
the 337 Memorial Wall.

--- Now before we jump into the big event
happening, some other tidbits you might not be aware of. First off
down at Kilby Court tomorrow is the second appearance of the Salty
Streets Flea Market. Aside from having an all-day concert for just
$2, the event also serves as a flea and trading market as well as a
place to grab some good eats. And for $2, not a bad lineup.

If
you're more into arts, Craft Sabbath will be open on Sunday as well
with a Pride-themed event. Now with so many artists they're bursting
out the door and into the street. Check out the event over at NoBrow
Coffee & Tea from Noon-4PM.

Meanwhile next week the summer
of music kicks off with Doin' It At The Park. The hip-hip and
graffiti communities mix it up again at Pioneer Park for a massive
show to encourage the youth of the city as well as those currently
taking part to continue their efforts to being music and art to the
state. The event goes from 2-9PM, totally free, with live performances and chances
to dig into local artworks (along with the afterparty at Bar Deluxe).

Moving into digital talk, have you noticed that giant video
wall outside XMission lately? After getting an overhaul design last
year the local internet provider dressed up its front end with an LED
Tube display and has been playing videos like screensavers and audio
visualizations, not to mention a few weeks ago the animated Pac-Man
tribute for the game's anniversary. Well, now they're handing the
reigns over to you, so to speak. They're looking for new designs to
put up on their wall and asking the public for submissions. The
winner of this competition will have their design run and receive an iPad.
For details, click on over to
XMission's blog.

Checking into

related movies such as “Howl”, “The Word Is Out”, Plan B”,
the Joan Rivers documentary “Piece Of Work”, and of course Reed
Cowan's “8; The Mormon Proposition”. Tickets can either be
purchased at 11AM at the Tower on the 10
th, or save
yourself the hell of waiting in the heat and just plop down $50 for
the all-access pass.

And finally coming full circle in this
blog is this year's Utah Pride Festival. Which I was going to go more
in depth on, but wouldn't you know it, Jesse beat me to it. You can
check out a full listing of events from Mr. Fruhwirth's entry
over
here. As for me, I sadly won't be able to attend this year's parade
due to other matters, but here's
some pictures from today's events for you to browse before you head
out tomorrow. And hopefully this is how it looks in the morning... remember the storm last year? First time I ever heard a crowd of people singing CCR's "
Who'll Stop The Rain", in harmony and drill team formation. Very fitting as I remember. But all that aside, enjoy the parade!!!

As for the blog... coming up the next few weeks
we'll delve back into comics, check out a festival in the middle of
almost nowhere, talk pub crawl, view some film winners, check out the
dark arts and get the final word from a departing artist. At least
that's the plan right now with so much of it up in the air. As
always, we'll see what happens.
