The Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" has become such an institution that it can be both the punch line for a 30 Rock joke and an inspiration for a savvy local aquarium to bring in visitors. ---

The Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy is cleverly piggybacking on the cable network's iconic "Shark Week" with a week of educational and fascinating activities surrounding its own population of cartilaginous predators. Scheduled events include a "Shark Spectacular" with lecture and myth-debunking Aug. 2 - 6 at 11:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.; feedings Aug. 3 & 5 at 3:30 p.m. and Aug. 8 at 1:30 p.m.; and a "Shark Week Celebration" Aug. 6 from noon - 2 p.m. Visitors will also have a chance to enter to win a special Discovery Backpack or other museum prizes throughout the week.

All special events are included with regular aquarium admission, or free with membership.
