Saturday, Aug 21 is a busy one for Utah roller derby, with three events in three cities: An anniversary party, a bout and an outdoor picnic scrimmage--and I'll be emceeing one of them (hint: It's the one with booze). ---

In Salt Lake City at the South Shore Sports Bar & Grill (2827 S. State), the Salt City Derby Girls will be celebrating five years in the women's flat-track roller derby biz with the Black & Yellow Ball, a $3 party featuring a performance by the Voodoo Darlings burlesque troupe and (for some reason) me hosting/emceeing the thing; doors at 8 p.m. Next Saturday, Aug. 28, SCDG travels north to Layton to take on the Junction City Roller Dolls at the Davis Conference Center ... even if they're still hungover.

In Park City at Trailside Park (5705 Trailside Drive), Wasatch Roller Derby hosts their second Picnic Scrimmage of the summer, a scrimmage event open to all local-league skaters who aren't bouting (or drinking) elsewhere today; doors at 4 p.m. Further info at WasatchRollerDerby.com.  Update: WRD's Picnic Scrimmage has been canceled.

In Ogden at the Marshall White Community Center (222 28th Street), the O-Town Derby Dames play their fourth bout of the 2010 season, with home teams Sailor Marys and Ladies of Capone facing off once again; doors at 6 p.m. Tickets and info at OTownDerbyDames.com.
