Some of the biggest parties will be taking place at Utah's Megaplex Theaters, typically among the highest-grossing theaters in the country for Potter releases. The five Megaplex locations will be offering a variety of entertainments and events on Thursday, including sorting ceremonies, games, costume contests and chances to win a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando; prices and times for events vary, and do not include movie tickets. The Thanksgiving Point location in Lehi will be featuring a marathon of all seven films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at 8 a.m. right through the midnight premiere of Deathly Hallows, for $35.
Separate from the Thanksgiving Point Megaplex party is a "Potter-inspired" expo at the Museum of Ancient Life. Events are scheduled to include a Horcrux scavenger hunt, wand making and Diagon Alley shopping. Tickets are $15, or $12 with purchase of a midnight showing Deathly Hallows ticket.
And if you want to go really big for your Potter experience, the Clark Planetarium IMAX screen is scheduled to make its post-remodeling re-opening with a Deathly Hallows run. Come to the party from 8 - 11:30 pm.. for the requisite games and activities ($15 admission), followed by midnight IMAX premiere of the film (movie tickets sold separately). If you haven't found a Potter party that works for you, you're just muggling through and not trying hard enough.
