THE SMASHBURGER FILES: This week, I sunk my teeth into an AWESOME burger: Smashburger's new Sin City burger. That's the good news. The bad news is that it goes away at the end of February, --- so get your buns to a Utah Smashburger pronto! The Sin City burger was conceived at Smashburger in Las Vegas, where it's a featured menu item, but it's available here this month. So, temporarily at least, what happend in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas.
What is a Sin City burger? Well, to be honest ... a heart attack on a bun. But, you only live once, right? Apropos of Vegas, this is an "all in" burger: a Certified Angus Beef Smashburger, placed on an egg bun, then topped with a fried egg, applewood smoked bacon, melted American cheese, grilled and haystack onions, and signature Smash sauce. Yes, it's as delicious as it sounds.
And, it's especially tasty with fried pickles on the side. I also really enjoyed Smashburger's beef chili, which was spiked with hot jalapenos and tasted homemade.
If your health can't quite stand a Sin City burger, you're in luck. Utah Smashburger Operating Partner Tom Hartman gave us a taste of a new burger he's working on in the Sugarhouse Smashburger lab: a black bean burger. It's really good already, but he's still tweaking it. According to Tom, it should be ready for prime time next month.
I'll be returning to Smashburger before the end of February for MORE sin!
