Only three more days remain for you to demonstrate your Oscar-picking prowess, and maybe win a bunch of cool free stuff. ---

Deadline for the First Annual City Weekly Predict the Oscars competition is coming up this Friday, February 25 at 5 p.m. Awards will be handed out in 24 categories at the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 27, all of which are noted here. Send your predictions in all 24 categories -- yes, that includes the short films -- to scottr[at]cityweekly.net, along with the tie-breaker prediction of when the broadcast will end local time (as marked by the hosts' "good night" sign-off). The prize package will include: True Grit T-shirt and baseball cap; The Social Network original soundtrack CD; paperback copies of the Oscar nominated screenplays for Toy Story 3 and 127 Hours; and a couple of DVDs, including Secretariat and It's Kind of a Funny Story. Winners must be able to pick up their prizes at the City Weekly office, 248 S. Main St., Salt Lake City, during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. weekdays.

We've received less than 10 entries as of 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, so your odds are pretty solid at this point. My own predictions in a few of the more obscure categories will be appearing in this week's City Weekly. Use them as guidance at your discretion (and, potentially, your peril).
