Locals crammed into Urban Lounge to see Detroit rockers Electric Six, The Constellations and Utah natives King Niko take the stage Tuesday night.---
Niko opened with a set that was definitely worthy of making ladies dance. Girls brought their dancing shoes and moved their feet to well known favorites, “Kink,” “The Comedown,” “Tippy Toes,” “Wildfire” and even two new singles that will be on their next record release called, “Intentions” and “Boss Fight.” Fans reacted very positively to the newest additions to Niko’s repertoire of songs. If “Intentions” and “Boss Fight” are a glimpse into what Niko’s next album will be like it will no doubt be received just as well.
The audience was initially skeptical of the second act, The Constellations who seemed to go back and forth between psychedelic, hip-hop and funk. However, all doubts went out the window when they covered David Bowie’s, “Lets Dance.” Not many can cover such an iconic artist and get away with it, but their rendition was fresh and fun. The Constellation’s set just got better from there.
By the time Electric Six went on the crowd was ready to sweat it out on the dance floor. The six-piece definitely ignited a fire in one of Salt Lakes discos when they played fan favorites, “Gay Bar” and “Danger! High Voltage” as well as other old and new songs. Their boisterous nature onstage was very engaging and entertaining. The audience seemed to lap it right up. (Or maybe that was just the drinks?)Regardless everyone seemed to have a good time. The lead singer mentioned on stage that they planned on recording their next album in Utah this summer. Can’t wait to hear it boys.
