Lounge Act Weekend: Conference Weekend Craziness

I pity the April fool who doesn't realize its Conference Weekend. Plan accordingly when navigating your way to all the killer entertainment Utah has to offer this weekend. Such as ...---
Friday
So, so, so many great shows this weekend, musically speaking, so let's start there. I was lucky enough to see Wye Oak three times at the SXSW music conference a couple weeks back, and the Baltimore duo, pictured, is definitely worth the price of admission. Their new album, Civilian, is excellent, and the live show is even better. Wye Oak headlines Friday at Kilby Court.
Another can't-go-wrong choice is the rootsy sound of Ha Ha Honka, headlining at The Woodshed Friday. They're a fine band from Missouri who are becoming regular visitors to our fair city. Also Friday, Muscle Hawk headlines at Bar Deluxe, Michelle Shocked brings her always-intriguing live show to The State Room, and Max Pain and the Groovies headline a rock and rock carnival at The Complex.
Theater fans will want to note that this is the final weekend to see Pioneer's The Diary of Anne Frank, and Plan-B's production of Borderlands is just getting started, so check those out. The Tumbleweeds children's film festival launches Friday as well, and Repertory Dance Theater's Place: Dancing the Green Map, continues its weekend run Friday as well.
Saturday
The fun just keeps on coming Saturday. Sharon Van Etten headlines what should be an excellent show Saturday at The State Room, joined by Little Scream and Provo's Parlor Hawk. The Miniature Tigers headline at Kilby Court, Skrillex brings the big booms to the Great Saltair and The Seedy Seeds headline at Bar Deluxe. And up at The Urban Lounge, Acid Mother's Temple headlines what is sure to be a memorable show of Japanese psychedelia.
Up at the Eccles Center for Performing Arts in Park City, the Masters of Fiddle will be doing a little Celtic, a little Cajun, and a lot of frantic playing.
You'll find the City Weekly Street Team at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, where there will be an interesting discussion among a panel of artists on the who are part of the Smithson Effect show currently on display.
Sunday
You need to kick back and relax, but don't forgo checking out the Craft Sabbath Spring and Easter Boutique at the Main Library. And come Sunday night, go check out The Strange Boys at Urban Lounge--you won't be sorry.
