For all the grief Utah gets for being woefully--and perpetually--behind the times, there's no denying that SLC's punk scene was a vibrant one back in the day, and we get a couple of reminders of that Wednesday.---

Tesco Vee (pictured), founder of the Meatmen and the Touch & Go punk zine, is rolling into town to do a reading at The Heavy Metal Shop from a new anthology called Touch & Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine '79-'83. The book holds every single issue of the zine Vee founded, and should be a great history book for any baby punks out there. And naturally, while Vee is here, the Meatmen are headlining a show at Burt's Tiki Lounge as part of a reunion tour of sorts. The reading at Heavy Metal Shop is at 7 p.m.; the show at Burt's will follow and includes sets by Endless Struggle and Against the Grain.

Wednesday night is also KRCL Night Out at Poplar Street Pub. Starting at 5:30 p.m., drop by for a drink, some grub and some tunes spun by the one and only Circus Brown.

Once you're properly lubed by the drinks and inspired to boogie by the Circus, a little easy skankin' might be in order, and lucky for you, John Brown's Body is headlining a show at The Complex; Natural Roots and Afro Omega are also on the bill.
