Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is
awarding a thermal imaging camera, worth more than $9,000, to the Unified Fire
Authority of Greater Salt Lake --- on Tuesday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. The Unified Fire
Authority recently suffered a huge wild fire that rapidly spread from mountains
into neighborhoods. The thermal imaging camera is a critical piece of
equipment, allowing for rapid victim location, protecting firefighters and
increasing survivability of those trapped or overcome by the effects of
fire.
“As government budgets decrease our requests
for funding increase,” said Randy Judd of the Midvale Firehouse Subs Location.
“We are grateful to our restaurant crews and guests for their generosity which
makes these equipment donations possible.”
Firehouse Subs founders’ 200-year
firefighting heritage inspired the formation of the Firehouse Subs Public
Safety Foundation, which provides funding and support to public safety
entities. In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the non-profit, Firehouse Subs Public
Safety Foundation, with the mission to provide funding, live-saving equipment
and educational opportunities to aid first-responders. Through the non-profit
501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs has given more than $2 million to hometown heroes,
including fire and police departments and EMT organizations.
Each restaurant recycles leftover,
five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to customers for $2. Donation
canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect
spare change.
The thermal imaging camera presentation takes
place at the Firehouse Subs located at 1008 East Ft. Union Boulevard in
Midvale, UT. Attendees to the event include local firefighters and their
families, Area Representative Randy Judd and Executive Director of Firehouse
Subs Public Safety Foundation Robin Peters.
