What’s new tonight:
Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Showtime) Series Finale: Over four seasons, high-end hooker Belle/London secretary Hannah (Billie Piper) has alternately charmed and frustrated viewers with her funny, matter-of-fact observations on The Job and too-often vague hints that she may get out of the sex trade. In tonight’s series finale, Belle/Hannah finally chooses between the gig she clearly enjoys and has a gift for, and the man she loves, her longtime friend Ben (Iddo Goldberg) who wants Hannah to ditch Belle for good. If you think you can guess which it’ll be, guess again … and maybe again. Secret Diary of a Call Girl has been one of Showtime’s smartest acquisitions; I’d recommend catching up on all four seasons (an easy total of 32 half-hour episodes—the Brits know how to keep it brief) this summer.
Gigolos (Showtime) Season Finale: Gigolos, on the other hand, has ranked as Showtime’s dumbest idea … until they just canceled United States of Tara. This reality series about a group of Las Vegas man-‘hos has made for some hysterical clips on The Soup (like … “the rap”), but that’s it. If there’s a Season 2, I strongly suggest recruiting Scotty McSmarmy—he’ll need the money by then.
So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) Season Premiere: Because modern TV mandates that at least one singing/dancing “talent” show must be on the air at all times, here ‘tis.
Also new tonight:
TNA Wrestling (Spike); The Real Housewives of New York City (Bravo), Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside (MTV); Swamp People, Mounted in Alaska (History); The First 48, Manhunters (A&E)
