There’s enough music going about to keep you busy for a five-day weekend, let alone a mere three-day holiday weekend. Check out what’s in store.---

Utah’s main musical attraction this weekend is the little-festival-that-could. Outside of Moab, Desert Rocks is a bundle of fun and, after years of working out the kinks, is achieving record sales this year, they report. Headliners The Motet, March Fourth Marching Band, Chali 2na and a bevy of local acts will take the red rock by storm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Check their website for details, but first read City Weekly’s preview here.

If you’re sticking around town, be sure to check out the Devil Whale at the Urban Lounge tonight for their long-time coming CD release. The band has been busting their chops touring all over the U.S. and are sticking around town just long enough to let their fans be the first to pick up Teeth, which, on first listen, is a rewarding effort from the hometown boys that could garner some national attention.

Also, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers play at The Complex and 2011 CWMA winners King Niko take the stage at Bar Deluxe this fine Friday eve.

On Saturday, Portland-based Morning Teleportation will prove that their town’s music scene goes beyond delicate indie rock and artsy folk with their brand of psych-rock. I caught these guys at Musicfest NW in their hometown last Fall and can attest they are a band that brings the energy for their live shows.

On the Americana tip, Old 97s and Sarah Jaffe take on Urban Lounge. Rhett Miller will pull from his large repertoire to, no doubt, perform an inspiring set worthy of polishing your cowboy boots for.

Wind down on Sunday with a little soul from the Brit songstress Adele. She’s got a set of lungs that could fill the Capitol Theatre, let alone The Depot with its immaculate sound. Her recent release 21 is every bit as good as the hype, so here’s hoping that you can find your way into the sold-out show.

Rounding things out on Sunday, the classic sounds of the Moody Blues will come alive at EnergySolutions (a change from the slotted Red Butte Gardens because of a broken pipe).

With all of these memorable concerts, hopefully you can recover with a day off on Monday, Memorial Day.
