Lounge Act Weekend: A Pyromaniac's Weekend

Plenty to do this July 4 weekend. You'll want to check out our listings for holiday-related festivities. Here are some more options.---
The Doomtree hip-hop collective (pictured) out of Minnesota arrives for a couple of shows: Friday night at The Urban Lounge and Saturday night at Kilby Court. The respective members are always excellent on their own. Together, it should make for a couple of killer shows.
Marc Broussard headlines a show Friday at The State Room. The bluesy boy from the Bayou is a mean guitarist but an even better singer. Not too many people dare to cover Al Green without embarrassing themselves. Broussard pulled it off, and his own work is solid, too. Down in Provo, the monthly Rooftop Concert Series features a bunch of Utah's finest musicians tackling The Beatles' Abbey Road in its entirety. And The Complex hosts The Glitch Mob Friday; read our interview with the tech-savvy cats right here.
Friday is also opening night for Salt Lake Acting Company's Saturday's Voyeur, the annual satire of Utah politics and culture. I'll be there, and like every year, I can't wait to see what the SLAC folks have come up with for the latest version of Voyeur.
On Saturday, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe plays at Jupiter Bowl in Park City, the first of what the place is hoping will be a series of big shows at Kimball Junction. Bar Deluxe hosts Denver band Kinetix on Saturday; you might have seen them at the Utah Arts Fest last week.
Also Saturday, Night Flight Comics is hosting an appearance by Lance Henrikson (Bishop in Aliens), who will be signing copies of his new book, Not Bad For a Human.
Sunday, Thriving Ivory, A Civil Twilight and The Alternate Routes kick off the Deer Valley summer concert series, and Park City certainly knows how to celebrate July 4, so you might want to get a room and stay up there through Monday.
