Lounge Act Weekend: Food, art, music--what's not to love?

Art, music, food—all the things that make life worth living are in abundance this weekend.---
Let's take a look.
FRIDAY
Perhaps the biggest doins' this weekend is the Park City's Kimball Arts Festival that features events Friday through Sunday. Music, fine art and tasty grub await those brave enough to navigate their way to our little ski town to the east.
On the music tip, Joshua James and Sayde Price are playing Provo's killer Rooftop Concert Series, Max Pain & the Groovies headline a free gig Friday at Fat's Grill and The Rubes and Spell Talk are slated for a free KRCL Hidden Hollow show Friday at 7 p.m.
SATURDAY
The King's English hosts authors Jim Davidson and Kevin Vaughan Saturday at 7 p.m., and they'll be reading from The Ledge, a true tale of survival on a scary night on Mt. Rainier. At 2 p.m. at the same place, Utah author Kiersten White will be reading from her young-adult title Supernaturally. Hell, you can even start the day at The King's English with an 11 a.m. reading from author Marshall Ulrich, who penned Running on Empty about ultra-marathoning.
The 15th annual Survivors at the Summit event in support of cancer survivors is Saturday morning at Snowbird, and later in the day, you can enjoy a free concert courtesy of roots-rockers The Bottle Rockets and Marshall Crenshaw on the Snowbird patio.
Saturday is also the arrival of the annual Vans Warped Tour stop in Utah at the Utah State Fairpark, and Saturday night you can catch the awesome sounds of Those Darlins (pictured) at The Urban Lounge.
SUNDAY
Amos Lee headlines at the Gallivan Center Sunday. The Craft Sabbath Back to School Boutique takes over Library Square by day.
Dntel headlines a gig at The Urban Lounge; you might better know him as half of The Postal Service. James Cotton and Jerry Jeff Walker share a stage Sunday at Red Butte Garden.
The best thing on Sunday, though, is the Taste of the Nation event at Solitude, where the state's best restaurants gather to volunteer their time and food to raise money for hungry children across the state. Last year, the event raised more than $97,000. Tickets are $75, and the event runs from noon to 4 p.m. It's totally worth the money if you're a foodie of any kind, and, obviously, the cause is great.
