Last week in this blog, I highlighted Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne, one of my favorite go-to bottles of bubbly. However, I can’t spend 50 greenbacks every time I want to pop a cork on some sparkling wine. ---

Well, here is a sensational bottle of bubbles priced at less than half of what Veuve sells for: It’s from France, but it’s not Champagne, since Simonnet-Febvre Crémant de Bourgogne Brut “Pinot Noir” ($18.99) comes from Burgundy. Made from 100 percent Burgundian Pinot Noir averaging 20 years, this is a lovely, elegant, sparkling wine for the price. It’s made with exactly the same techniques as Champagne, and if it were made in Champagne, it would undoubtedly sell for three times the price. It's creamy, toasty, delicate and delicious. Try some; you’re gonna love it.
