This week, Repertory Dance Theatre offers a special free symposium for (almost) everything you ever wanted to know about revolutionary 1960s artistic movements, but were afraid to ask. ---

On Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., RDT presents The Revolutionaries: Vanguards of the 1960s. An impressive lineup of scholars and educators will discuss the broad variety of innovative artistic movements that arose out of a turbulent era. Dadaism, Pop Art, Minimalism and the unique contributions of specific artists like Frank Stella, John Cage and Marcel Duchamp will be among the topics, in addition to the impact of the time's anti-war politics. The panel is scheduled to include Paul (Monty) Paret, Ph.D, Associate Professor Art History at the University of Utah; Miguel Chuaqui, Ph.D, Music Theory and Composition at the University of Utah; Jill Dawsey, Ph.D, Acting Chief Curator, Utah Museum of Fine Arts; Satu Hummasti, Associate Professor, Modern Dance Department, University of Utah; Alex Caldiero, Poet/Artist in Residence at Utah Valley University; and Linda C. Smith, RDT's Executive/Artistic Director.

The symposium itself is a free presentation sponsored by the Utah Humanities Council. And, attendees can receive a $10 discount on full-price tickets for RDT's upcoming performance, Vanguard (Oct. 6 - 8).
