Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker will join representatives of theatres from Denver, Dayton, Ohio, and Durham, N.C., in a community dialogue reviewing the pros and cons of what Salt Lake City’s performing-arts theatre could do for Utah’s capital city.---
Becker’s push for a world-class performance-arts center downtown is moving closer to and closer to its opening night, but before that happens, his office, in conjunction with The Downtown Alliance, is hoping to bring citizens unconvinced of the benefits of such a theatre out to a community dialogue tonight, where they can hear other cities' representatives explain how the theatres have changed their cities for the better.
The event is free and open to the public, and participants will be allowed to ask Becker and the panelists questions in a moderated question-and-answer period in the forum.
Check it out, Wednesday, Sept. 28, 7-9 p.m., at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
