Lounge Act Weekend: Rock tunes! Opera! Belly dancing! And more!

You're not going to let a little early dose of winter spoil a weekend full of good times, are ya? Hell, no! Here are some tips for your potential to-dos:---
FRIDAY
Alexis Gideon, the first artist to release some tunes on the Slowtrain record label, brings his multimedia show back to town at The Warehouse at 8 p.m. The combination of live music, animation and film is really something you need to see to believe.
At The State Room, the unabashed "greatest rock and roll band in the world" is headlining for the first time, as the Supersuckers (pictured, photo by Andrew Stuart) bring their straight-ahead rock majesty to town once again. The Excellence in the Community folks typically bring great concerts our way, but this month they're doing something a little different, showcasing some ballroom dance at Studio 600.
Rising rap stars Odd Future headline a gig at In the Venue Friday night, while Club Sound in the same building hosts old-school punks Off!, led by former Black Flag and Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris. Kilby Court has a killer show featuring Wavves, Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin and Spell Talk Friday night.
The Salt Lake Art Center has an intriguing show opening today. Doublespeak: Codes and Entendres By Contemporary Women Artists explores the idea of "doublespeak" in its myriad forms. It's the first of SLAC's First Friday events, so check out the show and enjoy some beverages while you're there.
SATURDAY
On Saturday, you can hit the Black Box Belly Dance Affair at the Rose Wagner, a fine way to experience belly dance without risk of your falafel falling out of your mouth at a restaurant when the dancers come out.
Neon Indian is probably a sure-thing sell-out at The Urban Lounge Saturday night. Nick 13 of Tiger Army headlines a gig at The State Room, doing the roots-music thing he's gotten into lately. Out at the Usana Amphitheater, The Australian Pink Floyd Show brings a 3-D show to a live-concert environment. I have no idea how that works, so be there at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to find out.
The Utah Opera's season opener Fidelio starts its run on Saturday night. And, of course, the X96 Big Ass Show takes over the Gallivan Center all day Saturday featuring 2009 CWMA winner Neon Trees, 2011 CWMA winner King Niko and a slew of alt-rock bands.
SUNDAY
Kick back, relax, and if you have to leave the house, be sure to hit the Urban Flea Market at Washington Square. It's never too early to think about Christmas shopping, after all.
