Lounge Act Thursday: An October Evening, Cali Guitar Trio & more

We might as well consider it Halloween weekend starting now, right? The haunted houses have been up and running for weeks, costume parties are happening all over town and, well, the real Halloween IS just four days away. Here are some tips for tonight.---
An October Evening mashes up music, fashion, art, film, food and dance into one big ol' night of the macabre, and it does so in the ever-so-cool confines of the Masonic Temple. This is definitely something worth checking out.
On the music tip, you can check out the intricate playing of the California Guitar Trio (pictured), who are headlining The State Room. Or the pop-rock of the Cold War Kids should be a treat at The Depot. The Urban Lounge has the stellar triple-bill of Maria Taylor, Big Harp and Dead Fingers.
Up at the U campus, the Utah Philharmonia and the ballet department are teaming up for a Halloween Concert at Libby Gardner Hall that should be unlike any of your other spooky plans this weekend.
Out at the Hale Center Theater in West Valley City, the Marvelous Wondrettes is a show designed for folks who love the '50s pop and rock & roll.
