SLC Library Director Beth Elder Resigns

After more than an hour-long closed-door discussion, embattled Salt Lake City Library Director Beth Elder announced her resignation, saying that “being a lightning rod of controversy has detracted from the library’s numerous accomplishments.”--- Elder (pictured) took over direction of the downtown library in 2008 after previous director Nancy Tessman retired after 30 years at the library’s helm.

Occupy SLC to Protest the G20 Saturday

The Occupy SLC movement will be joining a solidarity rally with Occupy Wall Street Saturday to protest the meeting of the G20 economic summit in Paris -- a meeting Occupy organizers say enables corporate greed to go global and undercut the sovereign will of developing nations.--- According to an Occupy SLC press release, the G20 has forced nations “to sell out their populations by adopting policies that force their educational, political, social and economic institutions to work for the world elite.”

By the Way, the World Ended Today

After seeing Menopause the Musical at the Rose Wagner earlier this week, I learned that menopause isn't the only big change to fear. --- Over a glass of wine following the show with astrologer Holly Alexander (who operates a website at YourDivineBlueprint.com), I learned the Mayan calendar runs out today!

Local Releases: Quiet Releases & FVC's Prescription

The downtown apparel shop and gallery Blonde Grizzly has helped out a lot of local artists, but the shop has also branched out into the national scene since their first event last year. --- It's not only bringing in unique artists to display works on the walls and various T-shirt designs, but the shop has now included illustrated books and manuscripts from up-and-coming names around the country.
