Lounge Act Wednesday: Myths 'n' licks

The mythbusting duo, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, bring the “Behind the Myths” Tour to Kingsbury Hall tonight. They will show off some of their zany antics, in the name of geekdome and science. In his A&E Essential article, contributor Jacob Stringer writers: “The idea is to bring scientific exploration and intrigue straight to the masses by doing onstage experiments with audience participation and plenty of behind-the-scenes stories to back it up.”
Over at the King’s English Bookshop, Marissa Meyer will read from the first installment of the planned four-part Lunar Chronicles. This book, Cinder, bridges fairy tales stories with science-fiction futures in the young-adult fiction genre.
The Utah Jazz will battle it out with the L.A. Lakers at EnergySolutions arena.
The music front is a bit sparse tonight, with one exception: Devon Allman--the son of Greg Allman--and his band Honeytribe, came through town last summer to play the Park City Arts Festival, and those who caught the daytime, outdoor gig were uber-impressed, myself included. Some musicians can’t shake the shadow cast by their illustrious parents, but this Allman is making a name for himself by touring relentlessly and showing folks that he has the Southern-fried chops to back it up. The show starts at 8 p.m. at The State Room.
