It’s slow and snowing this holiday evening , but there’s a way to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. during the day, along with some other bar-friendly finds.---

Westminster College is hosting a MLK Jr. March and Service Day. The march started at 9 a.m. in the snow, so you’ve already missed that one. Sorry. But if you rush down, you can help with a community-service project after the march; it consists of decorating boxes for the local food bank, and is at the Sprague Library (2100 S. 1205 East).

There’s one option for rock tonight, and that’s at The Urban Lounge with I Am the Ocean, Bearcubbin, Jesust and Settle Down. Tunes get going a little after 9 p.m.

But what about a little karaoke to brighten up the cold and stormy evening? There’s Karaoke Swilldown at Burt’s Tiki Lounge, Karaoke That Doesn’t Suck at The Woodshed and Kasino Karaoke at Piper Down. You might ask youself: What would the venerable Reverend have sung if he had a penchant for singing prompts and holding the mic? Maybe, “Lean on Me” or “Joy to the World (Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog)”?
