The one-night-only theatrical release of RE:GENERATION, an electronic-music documentary, shows five luminaries re-imagining the boundaries of their musical medium.---

“There is no sound we can’t make. There’s not a beat we can’t create. There’s not an artist we can’t record … now what?”says Scott Kirkland of The Crystal Method. The vision of the electronic producer/DJ is infinite, surmises a new documentary film directed by Amir Bar Lev (My Kid Could Paint That and The Tillman Story).

RE:GENERATION is scheduled to screen across the country on Thursday, Feb. 16. Locally, it lands at the Megaplex 12 at The Gateway. The 7:30 p.m. screening is sold out. However, there will be an encore screening on Thursday, Feb. 23, and tickets are still available.

In RE:GENERATION, five of the genre’s most influential characters step outside of their comfort zones as they write and record a brand-new track with artists of different musical genres.

Skrillex goes rock & roll with members of The Doors on “Breakin’ a Sweat.” The Crystal Method collaborate with Martha Reeves and The Funk Brothers on an R&B tune, “I’m Not Leaving.” Mark Ronson gets steamy down in NOLA with a jazzy number, “A La Modeliste,” (watch a video below) with a lot of all-star help -- Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste and members of The Dap Kings. DJ Premier merges hip-hop and classical by utilizing NAS and the Boston-based Berklee Symphony Orchestra on “Regeneration.” That, and Pretty Lights' "Wayfaring Stranger,” featuring vocals from LeAnn Rimes and Dr. Ralph Stanley, are the docs’ best tracks..
