World War I Traveling Exhibition

Just last week, world news was made when the last known surviving veteran of World War I passed away. Now, a traveling exhibition coming to Salt Lake City aims to keep the memory of "the war to end all wars" alive. ---

The 75-city tour of the Waddell & Reed Traveling World War I exhibition makes a stop Feb. 24 - 25 at the Fort Douglas Military Museum. The free, interactive exhibit is designed by the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, and features authentic weapons, uniforms, flags and other artifacts. Exhibits also address trench warfare, and provide sound and images from the period. All donations collected during this stop will be split between the Fort Douglas Museum and the national museum.

Hours for the exhibit are 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday. Saturday events are also scheduled (weather permitting) to include re-enactments, a World War I-era tank and ambulance and flag-raising.
