Occupy SLC will be planting some new seeds for change this weekend, both literally and figuratively, as they host a spring planning session, as well as help do spring gardening at a local community garden.---

Spring is upon us and it’s time to sow the seeds of change. That’s why Occupy is asking Salt Lakers to rise from their hibernation and meet at a solidarity meeting on Saturday, in honor of the six-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Check out the Planting the Seeds of Change event, Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the downtown encampment at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main.

On Sunday, you can help plant the very real seeds of community by helping Occupy set up a community garden at the One World Café, the Salt Lake City restaurant where patrons pay what they feel the food is worth. On Sunday, March 18, Occupy is looking for some green thumbs to help set up planter boxes, installing a greenhouse and other gardening work. The work activity will also offer those interested a chance to learn about other gardening plans for the spring and summer, and volunteers will be treated to breakfast/lunch for helping out.

Check out the Occupy Gardens Kick-off Event, Sunday, March 18, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. at the One World Café at 41 S. 300 East, Salt Lake City.
