Desert Rocks’ initial lineup announced

Topping the bill will be national acts Beats Antique, The Wailers, Lucent Dossier Experience, Brother Ali, RJD2, Elephant Revival, JGB feat. Melvin Seals, Chali 2na & The House of Vibe and more.
Utah-based musicians include 2012 CWMA Band of the Year Max Pain & The Groovies, CWMA DJ of the Year illoom, Holy Water Buffalo, Stonefed, Marinade, Wasnatch, Spell Talk, Triggers & Slips, and more.
In 2005, co-founders Luke Benson and John Corkery launched the festival, charging $15 for two nights of camping; 150 people watched eight bands playing on flatbed-trailer stages. Attendance has crept up steadily since, and volunteer crews now build professional-grade stages two weeks in advance.
And for 2012, the annual music festival is packing up its signage and speakers and heading north towards Green River, where it will be held at the Jenk Star Ranch. And aside from location, 2012 marks a shift for the festival -- toward “consciousness.”

“The Desert Rocks 2012 team is creating an interactive full-immersion experience with music, art, film, poetry, performance and speech specifically designed to broaden each individual festival patron's knowledge and understanding of socially conscious ideology.The new partnership is using the festival platform to showcase and celebrate a higher state of consciousness by booking/hosting socially responsible bands, speakers, DJs, performers, venders, artists, poets, workshops and films that have a positive message related to the cultural transformation ideology surrounding 2012.
Our goal is to promote the global shift towards environmental sustainability, fair trade, human rights, complementary currency, trade/barter, healthy lifestyle, organic farming, biodiversity, renewable energy, social responsibility, recycle/reduce/reuse ideology, cultural awareness, healthy diet, spread of wealth, sharing, caring and LOVE!”
