Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and the city council have crafted a special parks, natural land, trails, and urban forestry advisory board and they need local greenies to step up to volunteer for the citizen-run advisory board.---

Salt Lake City government has over the past few years restructured departments and placed the Open Space, Parks Maintenance and Urban Forestry programs under the Division of Parks and Public Lands. In conjunction with that, the newly proposed Public Lands Advisory Board will call on 11 Salt Lake City residents to staff the board that combines the previous functions of several old boards including the Open Space Advisory Board.

The city is looking for board members who represent the diverse background of the city itself, encouraging residents from different neighborhoods of the city and varied backgrounds and professions to apply.

If you've got green on the brain and an itch to serve your city when it comes to advising on everything from park improvements and preserving open spaces to tree planting and cemetery maintenance, then apply now. Interested applicants have until Friday, April 13 to apply for the first term of service on the new board.
