Of the four, spring is the softest season. And, in Utah, we are usually denied the 3-month stint of perfect 70-degree weather and refreshing April showers for vacillation between snow days and cloudy skies.---
This year’s perfect spring, as unseasonable as it may be, has been a pleasant contrast to the area’s usual longer, harsher winter. In honor of this season’s mild temperament, This Week’s Music Picks Playlist features the softer side of a number of bands with a hard edge.
All right, some of the bands this week, like Rusted Root, have anything but a hard edge; they have velvety contours like a freshly made spring sorbet. But bands like Sleigh Bells, K-Flay and Foxy Shazam can make entire albums of pointed lyrics, rhythms and distortions. On this playlist, you’ll find sunnier and springtime-appropriate soundtracks for a lounge-worthy listen accompanied by cocktails on the patio.
