What does the rest of 2012 have in store for the 2012 CWMA Band of the Year? Find out here.---

I’ve asked each of the 24 bands from the 2012 City Weekly Music Awards to send us a paragraph or so about what they have going on in 2012. Starting off the blog series is Max Pain & the Groovies:

To read an interview with the band featured in the CWMA cover story, go here. And for a feature on their Halloween EP, go here.

"Since the boost the City Weekly Music Awards gave us, we have had really great opportunities come our way -- as well as a rad keg party and a new tour shuttle bus. Right now, we are in the studio recording for our 10-song full-length record that will be out on CD and vinyl this fall, released by Seattle-based Knick Knack Records. We will be playing Desert Rocks Music Festival this year for the first time. We have a summer tour scheduled for late June and most of July, where we’ll be playing through 20 different cities in the Midwest, East Coast and the South. This includes a live set on the Brooklyn radio program Beyond Beyond is Beyond and a gig at Farm Fest 2012 aka Farmageddon in Manchester, Maryland. We are excited to keep playing local shows for the great Salt Lake scene as well. We are keepin’ the groovy train rollin!"
