A man stuck in space, and another man stuck in his mom’s basement, lead the films coming to Utah second-run theaters this week. ---

The basement dweller is the titular Jeff (Jason Segel) of Jeff, Who Lives at Home, the comedy-drama from the Duplass brothers in which Jeff’s family members—his widowed mother (Susan Sarandon) and unhappily married brother (Ed Helms) are also searching for satisfaction. The subplot involving Sarandon turns out to be much more compelling than the forced comedy in the brothers’ misadventures. For all the script’s nods to watching the signs for what you’re meant to do, they should have noticed the stronger movie built around this one character.

Lockout casts Guy Pearce as an inmate in an orbiting prison charged with rescuing the President’s daughter from the really bad guys. CW's Andrew Wright wrote, “There’s something weirdly engaging about its Amiga-level effects and sketched-on-a-bar-napkin narrative.”
