One day when I was a spry 17-year-old riding around in my friend’s mitsubishi feeling pissed at a boy, or a parent, or both as teens often do, I decided the best way to deal with my hormone-fueled anger was by throwing a cup of ice out the window.--- So I rolled down the window, stuck my entire upper body out and thrust my Big Gulp as hard as I could, and it just happened to hit some guy who was walking down the sidewalk in the crotch.

At the time, that did the trick. I laughed hysterically and forgot about my ire every time I replayed that man’s look of surprise and suffering in my head. More often than not, though, these days, when I think of that scenario I feel a twinge of guilt. I think that I probably ruined that guy’s day. What if for him it was one of those days where everything is going wrong and he just got dumped, or found out he had a venereal disease, or testicular cancer, and then, BAM! Got hit in the crotch to add another layer of proverbial pain.

Sometimes, things happen that ruin the entire day. And sometimes, those things have nothing to do with the victim of it’s wrath. I’m sure my cup-chucking crusade was not the only thing I’ve inadvertently done to shitty-up someone’s day.

But when someone, or something puts a damper on my day, I find the fastest and easiest mood fix is to turn on some good tunes. If someone shares something particularly ear-catching with me, it definitely makes me happy, and puts a spark in my ass – in a good way. I’m hoping that by sharing this playlist with the interworld, I’ll brighten up someone’s day, maybe even give them an eargasm – yes, unrealistically high aspirations, but here’s to hoping.

Every song on this playlist kicks ass, so I’m counting that as two points of good karma as I try to tally up enough positive points to negate the cup episode. I even included an apology to the nameless man I hit with that cup in upbeat and blue-grassy “Sorry,” by Trampled by Turtles. Listen and feel good. It’s not possible to hear Reptar’s “Stuck in My Id,” without smiling.
