Which obvious, cliched references are likely to appear in Hack Stamp-alicious reviews of Snow White and the Huntsman? I bet you can take a "fair" guess. ---

Blessedly, the lazy critic puns and references are less plentiful for Snow White than they were in recent weeks for the likes of What to Expect When You're Expecting and Men in Black 3. But still, a few folks just couldn't resist dropping an apple into their prose:

“… as bereft of satisfying substance as a poisoned apple” – Christy Lemire, Associated Press

“While the film isn’t the equivalent of a poisoned apple, it certainly is a rotten one.” – Jeffrey K. Lyles, Lyles’ Movie Files

More prevalent, though -- especially given the release earlier this year of another Snow White adaptation, Mirror Mirror -- was a need to include a familiar turn of phrase from the fairy tale:

“Poor Snow White. The princess from the classic Grimm fairy tale has definitely not been the fairest of them all on the big screen this year.” – Todd Jorgensen, Cinemalogue.com

“As far as 2012 is concerned, Mirror Mirror is the fairest one of all.” – Todd Orndorf, Blu-ray.com

“Mirror, mirror, on the wall, which movie adaptation is fairest of them all?” – Mark Sells, The Reel Deal

Or, if you really want to go for broke, you can pull the enviable double: "fairest" and "apple":

“In the contest between last spring’s Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman, who’s the fairest of them all? Surprisingly, it’s a tie … they’re both rife with rotten apples.” – Kimberly Gadette, Doodle
