Mia Love may have killed it at the Tampa Republican National Convention with a speech that’s made it rain campaign contributions on her bid for Democrat Jim Matheson’s 4th Congressional District seat, but Matheson is unimpressed by Love’s national support. “Ultimately, the election is decided in Utah and I have the financial resources to make sure I get my message out,” Matheson says.---
Utah arrived in Tampa with a total of 80 in its formal delegation. This includes 25 at-large delegates, 25 alternate at-large, three from four congressional districts, three alternates from the four congressional districts, and the state party chair, national committeeman and national committeewoman.
As Mike Winder noted in his blog today, conventions these days are highly scripted affairs. There
are no surprises; the nominee is a foregone conclusion.
